We traveled to San Luis Obispo County and trained with San Miguel Fire Department. Representatives from Camp Roberts, CalTrans and the Environmental Department attended as well.
San Miguel Fire Chief, Rob Roberson set up 5 different training sites to test and prove that using new water suppression technology can reduce firefighter exposures to deadly carcinogens. The five different training sites included a burning couch, 3 stacks of 4 wooden pallets, grass fire, vehicle fire, and the flash over container. A total of 80 gallons of water was used on all 5 training props. With a traditional fire engine and hose, the amount of water used on all 5 props would be around 500 gallons. We are able to save an enormous amount of water and accomplish the same goals.
The other great benefits using our Micro Droplet Systems is the reduction in water runoff pollution into Storm Drains and the reduction to Firefighter physical injuries. Our system is light weight and easy for one person to maneuver while other folks perform other fire responsibilities and or safety duties. Our high pressure system delivers 7 to 100 micron size water droplets through a 1/2″ reel line.
Water runoff is extremely important to the Representatives from CalTrans and the Environmental Agency. As one CalTrans Representative commented, “The clean up after a vehicle fire can cost up to $20,000.00”. This is due to the amount of water currently used to extinguish a vehicle fire with 1-3/4″ hose lines that is the standard hose line installed on fire engines.
All vehicles contain hazardous materials that are not harmful in a static situation, but when subject to fire, the materials release an enormous amount of toxic smoke and the water used to extinguish the fire is full of toxic chemicals running into our storm drains that destroy our natural resources.
Micro Droplet Systems drastically reduces water run off and in most cases, only a small spot of water can be detected after any fire is extinguished. Our system uses less than 5 gallons to extinguish a vehicle fire. It can be deployed much faster than today’s standard and as a result of quicker on scene times, it can make the difference in saving a life, keeping the fire small and reduce the amount of toxic smoke released into the atmosphere.
During the flashover training, we were able to reduce the room temperature from 800 degrees to 170 degrees with a 2 second micro burst without disturbing the thermal balance and without creating harmful steam to Firefighters or to potential trapped victims. This is so important for Firefighters to have the right tool for the right conditions to reduce a hot and deadly fire that can save lives and keep Firefighters from becoming exposed to super heated toxic gases.
Every Homeowner, Business Owner, Amusement Park, Airport, Fire Department, Store Owner, State and National Park, CERT Team, Rancher, Winery, Boat and Yacht Owner, Prison, Hospital, Hotel, and Military will benefit with our extinguishing system. We are a green company because we do not have to use additives to break water down to be more effective. Our system is already breaking water down to micro droplets to create more surface area to quickly remove heat and smother the fuel.
All in attendance received a great education on how water can used more effectively and efficiently when applied at higher pressures through our engineered Stinger nozzle that breaks water down into micron size droplets that creates more surface area to rapidly cool a burning fuel.
